Careers in the Arts
The Careers in the Arts program grew out of the 2005 Careers in the Arts forum sponsored by the National Arts and Disability Center, National Endowment for the Arts, and VSA. Professional development workshops are designed to provide information, resources, and other support to individuals with disabilities seeking careers in the creative industry. Service providers and family members are also encouraged to attend and receive information about advocacy and strategies for connecting artists with opportunities. Careers in the Arts Workbook
This resource is designed for individuals interested in pursuing a creative career. Results from the initial Career Forum and numerous subsequent professional development sessions, along with resources and extensive research collected along the way have been combined in this workbook. Acknowledging the barriers faced by those seeking a career in the arts, particularly people with disabilities the workbook provides a step by step map for success. The Workbook challenges individuals to consider their strengths, weaknesses, and goals, and then lays out strategies, tips, and resources for achieving those goals.
The Careers in the Arts Workbook is distributed to participants at VSAO workshops and can be downloaded by clicking here. This workbook was revised and updated in 2010 through a grant from the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council. This book may not be reproduced in full or part without permission from VSA Ohio.
