TEACHER INCENTIVE GRANTS
The Ohio Art Education Foundation invites applications for the Teacher Incentive Program. OAEF is an independent organization that provides support for a variety of art education programs. Foundation grants are made to OAEA members only and must be used for projects that enhance and further art education in the State of Ohio. OHIO'S 5th ANNUAL SPECIAL EDUCATION LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE Registration is open for Ohio's 5th Annual Special Education Leadership Conference scheduled for September 19-20, 2011 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The 2011 conference theme "Charting a Course for Improvement - Strategies That Work!" continues the tradition of quality professional development by presenting an outstanding program featuring local and national experts in the field of special education. A variety of sessions are available for Directors, Supervisors, Coordinators, other administrative professionals and Special Education Instructional personnel.


LEAD 2011 CONFERENCE and TRAINING

Housed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Leadership Exchange in Arts and Disability network presents an annual conference that will give you the tools and information you need to make your facility and programs accessible to people with disabilities and older adults.The conference includes dozens of seminars, networking and idea sharing, performances and demonstrations. The schedule for this year's conference includes a Capacity Building Workshop (Audio-Description training, Aug 15-16) and pre-conference workshops (Aug 17-18); the full conference is August 18-20. CHAMPION CREATIVELY ALIVE CHILDREN GRANT PROGRAM,
Deadline July 8 - Strengthen arts education in your school with a 2011 grant to Champion Creatively Alive Children, a national program funded by Crayola and supported by NAESP's National Principals Resource Center. Crayola will award up to 20 grants to help educators explore the "what if" opportunities in arts education that lead to innovative best practices that can inspire other educators nationwide. The grants, which include a $2,500 monetary award and $500 worth of Crayola products, are specifically aimed at helping NAESP members implement and document innovative arts-education projects to share best practices and innovative approaches to nurturing creatively alive children.

DRAMAKINTICS MOVEMENT CLASSES, Cincinnati, ongoing enrollment
Among other programs, Dramakinetics offers hour-long intensive classes in drama, music, and movement to engage individuals of all abilities to reach their full creative potential while experiencing, creating, and performing art. Goals are to foster independence, social skills, and empowerment. Ongoing enrollment is available for age-appropriate classes (from age 3 to 18+). DANCER'S EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Dancing Wheels, Americas premier, professional, integrated dance company, is currently seeking sit-down (wheelchair dancers) for employment in the 2011-2012 season.

Dance position offers a full 52-week contract, compensation according to experience, paid vacation and an opportunity to travel throughout the country and abroad (with all expenses paid).  Ballet, modern and strength training classes are offered throughout the week.

The company is seeking strong wheelists either with dance experience or the interest and ability to learn diverse choreography. Candidates for this position must be adept at daily wheelchair mobility and able to navigate well, be a team player and have the interest and ability to educate audiences about disability and dance. Dancers are required to work Monday-Friday 10-3 and travel on tour when necessary.

DANCING WHEELS SUMMER DANCE AND THEATRE WORKSHOPS
The School of Dancing Wheels offers fun and intensive summer workshops in dance and theatre geared for children and adults of all abilities and skill levels. Partial tuition scholarships are available based upon need.


OHIO ARTS PRESENTERS NETWORK'S YOUNG ARTIST INITIATIVE
September 2 Deadline
- With the addition of the Ohio Arts Presenters Network (OAPN) Young Artist Initiative (YAI), Ohio’s most promising young artists will be celebrated by and introduced to OAPN’s role in the development of Ohio’s arts communities. Categories include: Dance, Music, Young Audience and Theatre & Beyond. One entrant from each category will be chosen by an adjudication panel as a YAI Selected Artist. Of these four selected artists, one will be chosen as the YAI Featured Artist and will be invited to perform during the Opening Dinner/Awards Ceremony at the 2011 OAPN Annual Showcase Conference in Columbus, Ohio on Monday, October 24. This will give the artist an opportunity to be seen by presenters from all over the state of Ohio and allow an inside look at the business side of being a performing artist.

GOSLINGS + GARDENS: A KID MADE INSTALLATION 
Location: Wild Goose Creative, Columbus, OH
Dates: June 27 - August 25, 2011
DEADLINE: June 10, 2011

Seeking 2D or relief artwork that celebrates the community garden. This will be a fun-filled exhibition with a corresponding one-day event that provides an opportunity for kids to create prints and learn more about what it means to be involved with a local garden.

VISIONS REVEALED 2011 ART EXHIBIT
The 2011 Visions Revealed Art Exhibit will be held June 17 through July 15 at the Ernsthausen Performing Arts Center Gallery, at Norwalk High School, 350 Shady Lane Dr. Norwalk.

The annual collaborative show will feature works by over 40 artists from Artists' Open Studio, North Coast Cancer Care and local artists from throughout the area. The gallery will open at 1:00 pm for early viewing on June 17 and will remain open for a reception from 4-7 p.m. Visitors may also enjoy the display on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 9 a.m.- noon until the closing date.

A closing reception on July 15 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm will highlight an additional display of work from Drawing on Strengths, an art therapy program for Autism Spectrum Kids.  The event will include a theater performance and dance recital sponsored by the Fisher-Titus Pediatric Therapy Team.

Visions Revealed is sponsored by the Artists' Open Studio; the North Coast Cancer Foundation; the Huron County Board of Developmental Disabilities/Christie Lane; Fisher-Titus Medical Center. Contact: Lynda Stoneham


PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP FOR ARTISTS 
When: Saturday, June 18, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. 
Location: OAL Gallery 
    
Join Meghan Kwast, Tammy Bornemizsa, and Molly McCafferty of Time Tank Labs as they share the basic photographic techniques that will allow you to photograph 2D or 3D artwork, as well as the use of post-production editing software, and the best practices of image storage.

This workshop is free for OAL members. For non-members there is a fee of $10 per session, or $15 for both.

Formerly called Community Critiques, Art INFOrmal continues to provide a resource for artists looking for feedback on their work. Bringing work is not necessary to take part in the conversation.

The Ohio Art League is hosting our second annual ABSOLUTELY ABSURD  bash where the guests become the art with a whacked out mash-up of unexpected outfits. In a city this creative, we know that the attendees will knock your socks off with their most innovative, preposterous and absurd costume designs.  

The 7,000 square foot warehouse at 566 W. Rich Street, will be packed with performance and video art, a dance party, fire breathers, trapeze artists, cash bar and an eclectic crowd of artists, patrons and supporters of Ohio's rich cultural community. All proceeds benefit the Ohio Art League, working on behalf of artists for the past 100 years.  

This year will be infused with even more of the unexpected because we're asking artists to submit proposals for a wild and wacky performance, video or installation. Collaborations are encouraged!
